About La Kane
I’m way too old to be writing long ass diatribes about who I am and explaining my inner awkwardness and meanness to people who don’t know me. That sounds snobby and a little pointless, since I’m writing my thoughts on a big blog with another chick so that people who don’t know me can read it… but then again, that’s what makes me awkward.
I’m a college student. I’m a business-owner. I’m a mommy. I have an unhealthy obsession with Keith Olbermann. I’m politically promiscuous - finding pleasure in flirting dangerously close to either “side of the aisle.” [...hence my unhealthy obsession with Keith Olbermann?] I’m a fan of Robin Thicke, T-Pain, Trina, Astrid Gilberto, Ella Fitzgerald, and Jamie Foxx. Not necessarily in that order, but all a lot. And no, I’m not ashamed. I blame Miami.
About M Dot
I might be the oldest young adult you’ve yet to meet. I’m equal parts thinker, doer, margarita maker and dog lover. I’m also given to punctuating my conveyed thoughts with lots of elipses. A ‘ride-or-die’ conservative, a sucker for rare Chaka Khan and Seals and Croft pressings and good, almost-authentic Tex-Mex, I was born in Detroit and raised in the streets of the world. Currently in the MOST corrupt city in the world next to the Vatican City, I commit my passions, my work and my life’s journey for one unadulterated function: to speak for those who won’t have a voice. I consider myself a leader but I’ll leave it up to you to know when to follow.
We Are… Two Black Girls
God made us women, society made us Black, circumstance made us Sisters, life made us friends, and tomorrow is what holds us together. Two Sorority sisters brought through on opposite sides of the country and connected through mutual friends, we laugh together, learn together, share our trials and tribulations together, and come into ourselves together. This site is our proverbial firing range: we fire our bullets and hope to hit our mark, then we go home and feel a little bit better about having hit only sheets of paper - er, monitors. Thanks for reading.
